Testimonials

"Before thinking buying new clubs is the answer to improving your game, stop!  Having lessons with Richard was the best investment in golf I have made since starting playing again for many years.  Richard's technical coaching experience and a keen eye for set-up, stance and swing detail has allowed greater confidence and lower scoring throughout my game."

Sheldon Mann

I've been having a lesson roughly every month with Richard for a year or so, and it has been an excellent investment, with my handicap coming down in that time from 26 to 19.  What is good about Richard's approach is that he focuses in each lesson on just one or two key areas for improvement, and makes sure, through his explanations and through practice, that you understand those messages fully by the end of the lesson.  I now have much more confidence in every aspect of my game, and even when things go wrong, I have a much better understanding of why they've gone wrong.  I wholeheartedly recommend Richard to you.

"Rich is a terrific young golf coach. Having worked with him for the last 3 years, I have found him a strong communicator who makes the complexity of the golf swing understandable. I know my own swing better now and have consequently dropped my handicap by 5 shots"

"Meeting with Richard for my first lesson was like a breath of fresh air.  My game felt rejuvenated whilst the “1st tee nerves” that I thought would be present with someone assessing your swing were simply not present.  I liked what Richard had to say about my swing and where I needed to go.  Setting specific short and long term goals meant my desire to get out on the course and work on my swing had never been stronger.  I have been working with Richard for some time now and the improvement in my game has been greater than I ever expected.  Richard’s ability to analyse my swing, clearly describe the faults that we will be working on in a way that I understand and even play my bad shots so I can see them for myself means that I never failed to see a positive difference in my game after a lesson.  I always leave Richard’s lessons feeling encouraged and that I am taking forward steps towards my goals.  More important than all the swing improvements however, Richard has helped me to discover my enjoyment of golf again.  I would recommend Richard to anyone."

"I recommend Richard Perkin most highly to anyone who wishes to take up golf. He is a skilled instructor, full of positivity and encouragement but never obsessive  - even though it is clear golf is his passion. For those of us who simply want to learn for fun but never the less wish to take the sport seriously Richard is an excellent choice. His clever techniques are both rewarding and fascinating and as a complete novice, it was so satisfying to see myself progressing far more quickly than I anticipated.  My partner, who is an experienced golfer, was with me for a couple of lessons and Richard kindly offered to give him some subtle improvements to his game whilst keeping me actively improving on my lesson. Very skilful combination of our differing game levels and my partner was suitably impressed and grateful.

Add to this the fact that Richard is a most personable character  - mixing uber-professionalism with great humour and you have a very competent golf instructor indeed. The only down side to Richard is that you will, inevitably, get the 'Golf Bug' and there is no cure!"

"Richard is the best.  In my first lesson he was able to spot what was wrong with my swing and gave me some drills to correct this . I am now hitting the ball more consistently and longer , and at last I understand how the swing should flow so am able to correct myself when things start deteriorating .  Have broken 80 for the first time ever in the past month."

"I have been working with Richard to learn golf from scratch since the beginning of November. I have been having two or three lessons a week and practising in between, so a concerted effort on my part! Here we are in the middle of December, and things are going great. I have been round the par 3 a few times with no disastrous holes, and even my first birdie! Best score so far is 78. Now on to the main course! What I appreciated most about Richard's lessons have been the progressive approach, just fixing one thing at a time, to build up the technique steadily. Richard always looks for the positive, even when you feel like you fluffed the shot. Would certainly recommend anyone to learn golf with Richard."

"During my time with Richard I learned so much and had vast improvements on my game, he pushed me forward and I dropped shots off my game after every lesson.  He took his time with me to make sure the taught element was at his standard before we moved on, if I didn't get what he was teaching, Richard always found another way to show me until the information was received.  I would recommend anyone looking for anything related to golf to speak to Richard"

"Having never held a club before I was encouraged to have a few lessons 'for fun' by my son after a friend gifted me her old clubs to get me going. I was totally nervous but Richard totally put me at ease. His easy non-critical manner is very encouraging and even when things go wrong he remains calm and helps you to refocus.  I am delighted with my progress so far and look forward to stepping out on the course in the not too distant future."

"I started to have lessons with Richard around 8 months ago having become quite frustrated with my game and the lack of consistency with my scores, already been a low handicapper you feel like you should not be needing lessons but Richard has been a huge help to getting me back on trackand improving my game even further. We have worked on different parts of the swing each lesson and I have been given the time to put these into practice on the range without any pressure for the next meeting. Richard has also worked with me on a number of drills that I can work when I am unable to make the time for the range.

I think Richard is an excellent coach who is able to help all standards of players from beginners to the low handicapper for either that one off lesson to help in the short term or ongoing lessons to continually improve your game".

"I have been having monthly lessons with Richard for almost a year.  From a basic beginning I now have a handicap, have joined a local club and Richard is finessing my game to improve it and lower my handicap even further.  My accuracy, consistency, length of drives and short play have all improved significantly.  He is an excellent instructor and good fun to be with.  I would strongly recommend him to all age groups and standard of players."

"As an ageing, self-taught golfer with major, deeply ingrained faults in my technique, I have been enormously grateful for Richard's clear, concise instruction and infinite patience during my golf lessons.  While sympathetically accommodating my limitations, he has introduced a new discipline to my golf that has greatly enhanced my game and my enjoyment of it."

"Once I'd had my initial assessment from Richard I knew from then on that he would help to improve my game. My handicap was 28 when I first started taking regular lessons and I am now playing off 17. I now feel much more confident in my ability and have improved my course management with a good knowledge of what my next shot should be and how I should play it. This has come from listening to what Richard has to say and taking what I'd learnt on the range back out on to the course.
I now play for a golf society and play at some great courses around the country, but the best part is that i frequently roll in with some great scores which pays to all the practise and the lessons, so thanks Rich."

"I was struggling with my driving -loss of distance and direction so I booked a lesson with Richard. There was an immediate impact on both faults which isn't the usual result of lessons I have had! I have now booked a series of lessons as I now feel confident my game is progressing once again."

Graham Griffiths H'Cap 14

"After 20+ years of not even holding a golf club, with more time on my hands, I decided to sign on for individual lessons with Richard Perkin at Wycombe Heights Golf Centre. Richard's calm and highly encouraging teaching style, coupled with a positive critique of my shortcomings, ensured that I quickly regained my confidence and technical ability, so much so that I now enjoy the game as much as I ever did, all those years ago."

Patrick Millet H'Cap 28

"I had a single 1-1 putting / green reading lesson with Richard
In early 2010 and subsequently won my Nett Club Championship.
He has a unique style and gentleness that makes him the gent that he is."
